Keep on running!
Water Quality Manager at Three Valleys Water, Eddie Lintott has a passion for water and spends his working day ensuring that every drop of tap water delivered to customers is top quality. But this Sunday Eddie will be thinking about how much water he needs to keep himself topped up and hydrated as he pounds the streets of London for his other passion - raising money for a very special charity.
Eddie, who lives in St Albans, is putting on his running shoes to take part in the gruelling 26 mile Flora London Marathon to raise money for The PSP Association.
PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) involves the progressive deterioration of neurons in the brain. It affects balance, mobility, vision, speech and the ability to swallow, leaving many sufferers eventually unable to walk, feed themselves or communicate effectively with the world around them, yet their intellect remains largely intact. It can best be described as a ‘living hell’.
The Association provides a unique 24/7 PSP Nurse Specialist service to support patients and carers as well as funding research into the condition and raising awareness particularly within the medical profession across the UK.
“This charity is very close to my heart,” said Eddie. “A member of my family suffers from this condition, for which there is no cure or treatment and I know first hand how The PSP Association can help, I’m determined to raise as much as I can so that others can benefit.”
Eddie is hoping to run the course in 4 hours and is being supported by his colleagues to raise more than £750 for the charity. PSP Awareness Week runs from 5 to 12 April 2008, log on to www.pspeur.org or if you would like to sponsor Eddie contact him on 01707 277165.
