Eastwick School gets waterwise!

Are you water wise? School children from Eastwick Infants School, Bookham were able to answer this question after they had a visit from the Three Valleys Water Education team last week.

160 children from Eastwick took part in an education day with Three Valleys Water to learn more about the amount of water they use every day and how they can get into water-friendly habits at home and at school.

“During the morning, the pupils carried out a number of water-based experiments and learned about the journey of water from its source to our taps. Even the teachers were questioned to see if they were ’waterwise’ or ‘water wasters’. I am pleased to say that they were all ‘water wise’! The visit to schools is part of our efforts to promote water efficiency in its widest sense,” said Jan Boresta, Education Support Officer at Three Valleys Water.

Head teacher, Kareen O’Brienadded; “We actively encourage the children to take responsibility for looking after the environment and we have all learned some useful tips to save water, such as using a mug when brushing teeth and taking a shower instead of a bath. We welcome the opportunity to work in partnership with local businesses such as Three Valleys Water to provide a valuable hands-on experience to our pupils.”
