Terminology
Mains and mains network These are the pipes that we are responsible for. In most cases, our responsibility finishes at the boundary between your property and the street.
Water pipes
These are the pipes that you are responsible for, as explained in more detail in "Who is responsible for water pipes in my home".
Water pressure This is the energy that drives the water through the pipework. It is expressed in terms of bar pressure. That is, one unit of pressure is expressed as 1 bar - which is similar to atmospheric pressure.
Flow This describes the amount of water passing through your pipework.
Supply pipe This is that part of the water service pipe that connects the mains network and the water pipes in your home.
