Turning off your water supply

When you turn off your stop tap (which controls the water supply to your property), there may still be water in your system. It is therefore advisable to drain your system:

How to drain the system:
To drain the system of cold water, turn all cold taps on
To drain the system of hot water, turn off the boiler or immersion heater and then drain the system by turning all hot taps on.
Try not to waste the drained water:
Don't waste this water but collect it in buckets and containers - you may need it while you wait for your water supply to be repaired and restored.
Do not use this water for drinking or cooking.
