How to investigate your water usage
Steps to investigate water usage
We recommend that you follow the 6 steps as shown on the following pages.
Step 1
Check your internal stop tap is working – often located under the kitchen sink or in a connecting garage. It is important that your stop tap is operable to complete all checks on your supply (if it is not, please call a plumber). Now follow steps 2 to 6.
Step 2
Read step 2. It will explain how to find your meter and take a reading.
Step 3
Check for unexpected night usage.
Step 4
Carry out an initial test of the supply pipe between your meter and internal stop tap. Carry out further tests based on the result.
Step 5
Use your meter and these pages to ascertain how much water each appliance uses.
Step 6
Your next course of action.
