| The Water Box? What
is it? |
 |
| It's a comprehensive
resource for teaching children about water. |
 |
| Inside the Water Box
you will find the equipment and guidance to carry out
21 investigations into the properties of water,
how it is cleaned, how it moves, how we use it, how it
mixes with other materials and lots more. |
| It is aimed at Key
Stage 2 but it is also used in many Key Stage 1
classrooms as the activities can be modified to suit
different age groups and abilities. |
 |
| It is fully in line with
the National Curriculum requirements for the water
elements of the Science and Geography programmes
of study and much of the equipment will support Teachers'
own ideas for activities. There is a comprehensive Teachers'
supporting handbook and companion booklet, a video, plus
21 laminated work cards clearly setting out the activities,
equipment needed and any safety issues. |
 |

| Liquid soap is causing
us a problem at the moment because so many of the brands
on the market, even the very cheap ones, are really detergents
designed to counteract the effects of hard water. We have
tried shredding soap, which does work but is messy! We
will continue our search and will update this web site
when we succeed. |
 |
| This leaves aluminium
sulphate and calcium acetate. We suggest you contact your
local secondary school and ask them if they can supply
you through their science suppliers or give you the name
of the supplier so you can order direct. This could also
be your best bet for equipment replenishment as well although
Hertfordshire County Supplies do carry much of the equipment
included in the Water Box. |
 |
| We do carry a small stock
of every item, including activity cards and teachers'
books and can help you out in an emergency. |
