| Three Valleys Water's
education team has worked very closely with staff
at Batchworth Lock in recent years both to produce
its current worksheets and Health and Safety Risk
Assessment. |

| The Rickmansworth
Waterways Trust Canal Centre at Batchworth Lock
is a key education and recreational facility in
the Rickmansworth area, attracting some 15,000 visitors
a year. |

| With financial
help and guidance from Three Valleys Water, a popular
education programme has been developed. A series
of worksheets that are matched to the needs of the
National Curriculum are available. |
|
| This new programme
embraces: literacy, numeracy, the history of the
canals and the waterways environment. Since its
launch in June 2000 it has been extremely well received
by the schools who have visited Batchworth Lock.
The programme is run mainly by volunteers, all of
whom are assessed for suitability and there is a
first aid provision. |
