| The study of environmental issues gives excellent opportunities for teachers to bring alive concepts of sustainability and citizenship. Children can gain an understanding about their role as citizens by taking an active part in decision making, and by getting involved in practical projects within their schools and the wider community. | |||||||||||||||||
| For both school visits and INSET training sessions we use everyday issues to encourage active citizenship and an understanding of the concept of sustainability. | |||||||||||||||||

| These activities are designed to be fun and to give the children or adults the opportunity to make choices. Debates and discussions are encouraged because there is always more than one side to the story.
