Water meter installation: A 2-Stage process

Step 1. You do not need to be in when we install the meter, but on arrival, our installation team will tell you they are there and that they will need to interrupt your water supply for a short time.

Step 2. They will begin by digging a hole at the boundary of your property, usually in the footpath, to expose the water supply pipe and boundary stop valve.
Step 3. Into this hole a rigid plastic tube, called a boundary box, is installed at the point the meter will be attached to the water supply pipe. This tube protects the meter against frost damage, rainwater and debris.
Step 4. Any holes around the boundary box will then be filled in and a few days later, if needed, our specialist team will do permanent repair work to the surface.
Step 5. Your water meter will then be installed in the boundary box and the make, serial number and first reading are taken from the meter and recorded on your account.
