BA - Verifiable Backflow Preventer with Reduced Pressure Zone

The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 provides for 5 Fluid Category types. From Fluid '1', water complying with drinking water regulations to Fluid '5' water representing a serious health hazard.

The Type BA-Verifiable back-flow preventer with reduced pressure zone (RPZ) valve has been included as a suitable mechanical means of protecting against a Fluid category '4' risk in terms of back-siphonage and back-pressure, making this type of device particularly attractive where mains pressure is essential to a process.

In order to comply with Regulation requirements, this type of device must be regularly inspected and maintained. Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) Information and Guidance Note No. 9-03-02 details the requirements for installation, on-site testing and maintenance of the valves.

Regulation 5 'Notification' places a requirement on persons proposing the installation of the device to notify water suppliers. The application for installment form must be used in every case to notify us of the proposal to install. Consent will either be granted or refereed back to the applicant within 10 days.

Once approval has been given and the company's 'Terms & Conditions' have been accepted, the installation can proceed.
